Question 7
I used Match on Action to show that I understood how to use the technology well enough to edit the transition through the door. Shot/Reverse shot was also there to show some conversation. The 180 degree rule is crucial with the preliminary task is because it adds realism. When there is conversation the rule cannot be broken as it would confuse the viewer and they will not know what direction they are observing the scene from.
If i did not complete the preliminary task i would not know how to use the cameras as well as the software that is needed to edited the videos; so i would have ben unable to complete the task. My editing skills have been improved since then.

Problem we came across, and how we over came it.
Problem
we came across, and how we overcame it.
My film was originally
about a group of friends that some how get locked in the school. Unfortunately
we ran out of time and it was impossible to get all of the people needed to
shoot the scenes. We had no other choice but to thing of a new storyline. I had permission to film late as my family took into consideration
that we had to do filming and left the premises while we where filming our
project.
The new storyline is about a man that sees someone
with a valuable item and his aim is to obtain it. In the opening he breaks into
his house to steal the item that is worth a lot of money. He the person’s daily
routine and knew that he would not be home as he has work. As the man (Jerome)
is searching the person’s room he hears a sound. The owner of the house (Fred)
comes back home from work early. Jerome runs into Fred’s bedroom wardrobe to
hide. This is a POV shot making the viewer feel involved and will definitely
grab them and keep them watching.
Treatment
Treatment
My film is about a group of friends that some how are locked in the
school. To let time go by they decide to play a game of hide and seek. One of
The main characters Jase is the one to count and look for his friends that are
hiding. As he looks for his friends he finds them one by one dead. There’s a
twist. Every body that he finds has a note placed on it. Because there are
seven people to be found the first dead body he finds has the number 7 on the
note and the second body he finds has the number 6. This is assumed to be a
count down of the friends that have been killed. But there is another twist. At
the ending of the film, the truth is uncovered; the killer was Jase. Jase has
an illness that makes him forget thinks that he has done. Every time he fond
one of his friends he would kill them and leave a note on them; after he does
this he snaps out of it and sees the dead body lying there not know that it was
him that had done it. Every time he finds a body he looks for someone else with
the intention of telling them, but instead he kills them. In my opening scene
the viewer will only see the second dead body with the note on it, this will
make them know that the numbers must mean something and will automatically make
them want to see the rest of the film.
My opening sequence will start with a group of friends socializing after
school. Jase realizes that it was getting late so they decide to leave and go
home. As they arrive to the door Jerome fails to open it as they have been
locked in. The camera would zoom in on his face showing al of the details so it
is clear that he is surprised and worried.
There will be many close ups and POV shots use in the sequence as this adds thrill and will make the viewer feel more involved. Many different story lines were thought of, but the final story line was decided upon as others were un-realistic or in some sense of the word unachievable. So we decided to continue with the theme of someone seeking and others hiding within the school. Our research (questionnaire) gave us information on what things our peers and people our age would like. So I continued to use the school theme.

I have chosen my film location to be in a school. This is because it
goes perfectly with my storyline as they are locked in a school. This is good
because people of the age of 15-23 can relate to it and people over 18 will be
able to follow and still get grabbed by the tension that is created by the
film. I believe that my opening scene matches the conventions of
a thriller, as it is suspenseful, gripping and does not show a lot of the film
but still gets you thinking and makes you want to carry on watching.

Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock was a British film director and producer. He was born on the 13th of August 1889 and died on the 29th of April 1980. He pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. After a few silent films he moved to America and became an American citizen whilst remaining a British subject. Alfred Hitchcock made a verity of films such as:
In the report I will be analyzing Psycho and Lifeboat.
Psycho
When watching the opening sequence of Psycho I noticed that the music was very fast. I could hear stringed instruments being played. This gave it that adrenalin-pumping feel making the viewer want to carry on watching to see what the movie is about. Throughout the intro it gave some of the names of the people that were involved in the production of the film. I noticed that they used a very simple font in white with a black background. The writing had a vertical stripe transition to enter the screen making it have that puzzle effect. The main colour scheme was very dark, giving it a very dark and misty feel, which is typical for a thriller opening.
Lifeboat
When watching the opening sequence of Lifeboat I noticed that the music was a lot more complex than the music that was played with Psycho. I could hear stringed instruments as well as horns and percussion instruments. Although the instruments and sounds were quite different it still gave off that mysterious effect. Just like Psycho the writing of the opening credits was in a simple font and faded on to the screen to give it an inexplicable feel. The colour was black and white; this created a dull effect, which made the movie that little bit more thrilling; a perfect technique to use when producing a thriller movie.
Shadow of a Doubt
When watching the opening sequence of Shadow of a Dout I noticed that the music was a lot more up beat than the music that was played in the others. I could hear a lot of brass instruments as well as percussion instruments. The music gave a happy effect at the start but then it slightly change enough to make it sound more down and like thriller.

Logo Creation
I first started with a blank black background and added some white text saying Pictures.
I then duplicated that text, made that duplicate red and shift it a little bit to the left to give the overall image a white under layered 3D effect.
After doing that to the text i added a thin lined red star with red text saying J&J which stands for Jaydon and Joshua.
I then duplicated the star and enlarged it a little bit to making it appear to be thicker.
I finally duplicated the star one last time and and recolored it white. This made the star look a lot thicker and also made it look a lot more attractive and eye catching.
